There’s this story leadership keynote speaker Ryan Estis shares in his talks. He was at the airport one Christmas Eve when he decided to get coffee. The barista who worked the counter that day was a lively woman named Lily. While she was getting his order ready, she engaged him in an animated conversation, asking after his family and holiday plans. Now, Ryan was intrigued. It was Christmas Eve. Everybody would rather be someplace else than working at a Starbucks in an airport but Lily seemed happy to be there. So, he asked her how she was making such meaningful connections while serving coffee. What she said changed his outlook in life. She told him that she wasn’t serving coffee, she was pouring happiness into people’s lives.
How. Brilliant. Is. That?
How we frame our narrative affects how we show up in life. I don't consider myself to be a content creator but rather a curator of joy. We don’t have to be stuck with labels of someone else’s making. Every day is a chance to redefine who we are and what we do. So, let’s show up as our best selves and make every day encounters extraordinary.
How will you redefine your narrative?
