Part 1: Tree Art Bark Edition – Prologue

I’ve always found tree barks fascinating. The texture, the colours, the knots and grooves and cracks, all come together to make beautiful art.

This month, I’m inviting you to discover these stunning masterworks with me. Look at the bark of a tree you pass every day and see – really see – it. Is it scaly, bumpy, ridged, smooth? Does it have any growth on it and if so, how does that affect the bark’s appearance?

Run your hand along the surface, trace the outline of the peeling strips, the fissures, the blemishes. How does it feel?

Now, walk a slow circle around the tree and view it from different angles. Let your eyes drift slowly upward, downward, side to side. Notice the way light falls on it. Which angle is the most flattering?

Nature has so graciously bestowed us with art galleries everywhere. May we always have our eyes and our hearts open to celebrate her artistry.
